Farinelli (24 January 1705 – 16 September 1782), was the stage name of Carlo Maria Broschi, celebrated Italian castrato singer of the 18th century and one.
Ombra fedele anch'io is a love song from the Baroque era composed by Riccardo Broschi. The lyrics are in Italian and the song expresses the singer's love and devotion to their beloved. The title of the song means "Faithful shadow am I" and emphasizes the singer's undying loyalty and faithfulness.
It relates how Farinelli cured the melancholy of Philip V of Spain with his singing and asked for no reward other than for the king to allow.
